"Activities Around Royal Chundu"

The Victoria Falls area is known as the adventure and activities capital of Africa. Speak to one of our team about incorporating any of the activities below into your holiday itinerary.

Around Royal Chundu

Helicopter Flights

What better way to see the magical winding Zambezi River and the crashing of the Victoria Falls than from above in a helicopter? You can enjoy riveting helicopter flights over the Falls (lasts approximately 12 minutes) or fly over the Falls, gorge and game park for about 25 minutes. Look out for the wildlife and other sights below. You’re going to want your camera with on this trip!

Go white water rafting down the Zambezi River

White Water Rafting

Don’t just look at it! Jump in and ride the raging white water rapids of the mighty Zambezi River, the fourth largest river in Africa, in a raft and feel the rush of adrenaline in wild Africa. Be prepared to get soaked! With names like “Stairway to Heaven”, “Devil’s Toilet Boil”, “Washing Machine” and “Oblivion”, you can imagine what the rapids have in store. Your guide will assist you through the rapids and tell you all you need to know.

Elephant Back Safaris

Experience something you probably never thought you’d get to do – riding atop an elephant through the bush. The Zambian elephant back safari trail starts at Thorntree Lodge in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and takes you into the bushveld and along the riverbank. Look out for wildlife from your vehicle! This is a truly once in a lifetime experience and guided so you don’t have to worry about anything but the thrill of it.

Try Abseiling!

Get adventurous and shimmy 120 metres down a sheer cliff in the gorge of the Zambezi River. Depending on how energetic and playful you’re feeling, you can jump out of your harness and swing suspended against the rock. Try Rapp Jumping, where the harness is connected backwards enabling you to run or walk down the cliff facing into the gorge. You will be briefed and prepared beforehand. This is one for the whole family as there is no minimum age limit.

Bungee Jumping

If you’re a thrillseeker or ever fancied trying to fly, this – arguably the best bungee jump in the world – is for you! Take the 111 metre plunge off the Victoria Fall’s bridge, towards the grumbling Zambezi River with the spectacular Falls as a backdrop and the Batoka Gorge directly ahead. You can tandem or go solo, do a standard head first dive, or jazz it up with flips, backflips and inward tucks.

Crocodile Farm Tours

Get a greater insight into the life of crocodiles with a tour of the crocodile sanctuary and ranch. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the reptiles and their habitats and feeding habits. Situated just outside Victoria Falls, the original crocodile ranch was set up in the 1950s in response to the declining crocodile population of the Zambezi. It now plays host to tourists and is home to a large number of crocs from birth to around 4 ½ metres in length.

Fancy a round of golf? You can try your hand on either side of Victoria Falls, whether Zimbabwe or Zambia, in two top class golf courses. There’s the Livingstone Royal Golf & Country Club, in the historical town of Livingstone, Zambia, and the Elephant Hills Golf Course, Zimbabwe, which was designed by the great Gary Player and provides more than enough of a challenge with 18 holes.

Devil’s Pool

Swim to the edge of the Victoria Falls in Devil’s Pool, a natural rock pool on the edge of the Falls on the small island of Livingstone. From September to December, the river flow is at a safe enough level and you can swim as close as possible to the perimeter within the pool and take a frightening look over the cliff. If you’re brave enough take a jump or wild somersault in and enjoy a frolic in the cool water.

Lunar Rainbow Tour

This is definitely one of the most unique experiences available at Victoria Falls and can be witnessed during the months from March to July. While rainbows usually appear through direct sunlight, the Lunar Rainbow is rare and occurs from light reflected from the moon’s surface. Experience it from the vantage point of Victoria Falls as the spray from the water going over causes a beautiful “Moonbow” over the chasm.
